2011 The Year of Growing International Biosafety Communities

In partnership with the Elizabeth R. Griffin Foundation, the IFBA and its membership are undertaking a new initiative to strengthen global biosafety and biosecurity. Entitled, the 2011- Year of Building International Biosafety Communities, one of the objectives of this project is the growth and sustainability of new and emerging national and regional biosafety associations. Biosafety associations play an important role in raising awareness and facilitating enhanced biosafety and biosecurity practices. Empowering these associations and ensuring that they continue to grow in a focused, meaningful and sustainable way will lead to true growth of global biosecurity and biosafety. The 2011 Year of Building International Biosafety Communities project consists of 7 new activities which are further described in the attached document.
