
Albert Bunyasi
East Africa Regional Program Coordinator
Mr. Albert Wamukota Bunyasi was born on the slopes of Mt Elgon in the Western part of Kenya. He currently resides in Nairobi and is the IFBA’s regional coordinator for East Africa.
Mr. Bunyasi is a Biomedical scientist and received his Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. He has worked with the Kenyan Ministry of Health for over 30 years, most recently as their Biosafety & Biosecurity program manager. He has trained health care workers across the country in the safe and secure handling of infectious materials and contributed to the development of Kenya’s national biosafety guidelines. Mr. Bunyasi holds his IFBA professional certification in Biorisk Management and was awarded IFBA’s Biosafety Heroes award in 2015. Though facing numerous challenges in the region, he is committed to developing locally practical and affordable biorisk management solutions that can be sustained over the long term.
