The IFBA would like to announce an upcoming change to the Professional Certification in Biorisk Management examination, effective May 1, 2020.
In accordance with ISO 17024 “Conformity Assessment – General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons”, the IFBA revalidates their examinations with enough frequency to ensure the competency requirements being assessed reflect current practice. Over the past 6 months, technical subject matter experts from around the world have worked with the IFBA to take the necessary steps to update the Biorisk Management body of knowledge and examination questions. The new version of the examination reflects the current practice of biorisk management, the introduction of the ISO 35001 “Biorisk management for laboratories and other related organizations”, the past performance of exam questions and the feedback provided to the IFBA by candidates.
In order to give individuals around the world adequate time to prepare, the IFBA is waiting until May 1, 2020 until the new version of the examination is launched. This also allows our Member Biosafety Associations and other training providers enough time to review and update their training materials based on the new ISO 35001 before the changeover happens.
The new Biorisk Management exam content and study guide can be downloaded here.
The IFBA is grateful for the support and collaboration provided by the US Biological Threat Reduction Program and Sandia National Laboratories for this project.
