Michael Weaver
Program Coordinator
Michael Weaver is a project management consultant and a Program Coordinator at the IFBA. From 2003 to 2016 he served at the International Science and Technology Center, where he was based successively in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
There he managed a wide variety of scientific projects, including many involving biological safety and security. Prior to joining the ISTC he was awarded an AAAS/NTI Global Security Fellowship in the U. S. Department of Defense, where he worked on biological nonproliferation and disease surveillance programs. Dr. Weaver holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA in Biochemistry from Cornell University. He has done postdoctoral research on plant pathology and senescence in the US and the United Kingdom, and served in the Peace Corps as a science teacher in the South Pacific.
