The IFBA is excited to announce the publication of a new children’s book “Germs Goodbye”, written by Aggrey Wekesa Barasa, a student currently enrolled in MMUST’s BSc Biosafety & Biosecurity program. This week, Aggrey returned to Kakamega Muslim Primary School, his alma mater, to donate 50 copies of the book and share his journey as a writer, journalist, and biosafety student with Grades 6-9 students, emphasizing the importance of biosafety and biosecurity. He described the experience as “surreal” and “humbling” to reconnect with his former teachers and the environment that shaped him.

“Germs Goodbye is an engaging science fiction children’s book that introduces young readers to the world of biosecurity and biosafety in a fun and imaginative way. Through an adventurous storyline, the book educates children about the importance of hygiene, disease prevention, and responsible scientific practices. With relatable characters and vivid storytelling, Germs Goodbye simplifies complex biosecurity concepts, making them accessible and inspiring for the next generation of scientists and global citizens.”

Let us all congratulate Aggrey for turning his passion for writing and journalism into an inspiring book for the next generation of biosafety & biosecurity professionals!

Please contact the IFBA Secretariat at secretariat@internationalbiosafety.org for further information on obtaining a copy of the book.
