Communications & Project Officer

Dionysis Vourtsis, PhD, is the Communications and Project Officer at IFBA and serves as an approved proctor for the delivery of IFBA professional certification examinations worldwide. He is also a Board Member at Large of the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) and President of the Hellenic Biosafety Society (HBS).

Dr. Vourtsis is a Biorisk Management Specialist and Biosafety Advisor with more than 30 years of experience in biomedical laboratories. His expertise includes biosafety, biosecurity, biological risk assessment, laboratory quality management, and the verification and operational readiness of high-containment (BSL-3) laboratories. He supports the development of national biosafety capacity through biorisk management systems, professional training, and laboratory preparedness initiatives in Greece. Passionate about advancing global biosafety and biomedical laboratory science, he contributes through professional certification, continuing education, scientific publications, conferences, social media, and e-learning, while promoting international best practices in accordance with WHO guidance, ISO 35001, and other internationally recognized standards.
