The International Federation of Biosafety Associations is pleased to welcome official Member Biosafety Associations in Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and Togo.

Ethiopian Biosafety and Biosecurity Association (EBBA)
The EBBA is a non-Governmental, non-profit, non-religious, members– based institution founded by dedicated scientists to carry out biological safety and security advice. The association will work to serve the emergent concerns of biological risk management in various medical, agricultural, technological, and biological sectors throughout Ethiopia. It will cooperate and collaborate with other associations, more specifically with biosafety and biosecurity, technology, research, private and public health or technology organizations throughout Ethiopia and globally in the promotion of biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management as scientific disciplines.

The mission of EBBA is to be at the forefront of biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management to make and implement innovative, effective, and efficient ways concordant to local and international standards to improve the quality of life of the Ethiopian citizens. The main purpose of EBBA as a professional organization is to congregate practitioners of biological safety for the promotion of biosafety and biosecurity and to facilitate the sharing of biosafety and biosecurity information amongst members.

Our vision is to create a secure, competent laboratory workforce and safe laboratory working environment to ensure healthy relationships and environment nationwide.

Burkinabe Biosafety and Biosecurity Association (ABuBios)

The ABuBios  is a scientific, apolitical, secular, non-profit and autonomous association. It is recognized by the Ministry in charge of territorial administration through the association declaration receipt n°2023-001550601 dated April 07, 2023. It brings together scientists, researchers and technical staff in the fields of human, animal and environmental in the spirit of the “One Health” approach.

Its main objective is to promote a culture of biosafety and the development of best practices in the handling of biological agents and toxins potentially dangerous to humans, animals and the environment, in Burkina Faso. The association was also created to support emerging legislation and standards in the biosafety and biosecurity sectors. Its vision is to develop cooperation and collaboration with structures and partners at national and international level, through the sharing of knowledge and experience, in the search for lasting solutions in the field of biosafety and biosecurity.

Togolese Association of Biosecurity and Biosafety (ATBSS)  

The Togolese Association of Biosecurity and Biosafety (ATBSS)  is a scientific, apolitical, secular, non-profit and autonomous association whose head office is located in Lomé, Légbassito district. It brings together health professionals and research laboratories as well as technical personnel from human, animal and environmental health in a spirit of  “One Health” approach.

It aims to promote biosafety and biosecurity in Togo and to contribute to the improvement of the working environment of human and animal health professionals. To achieve this goal, it has set itself the objectives of raising awareness among human and animal health professionals about the concepts of Biosafety and Biosecurity, training human and animal health professionals on biological risk mitigation measures, combating the proliferation of biological weapons, promoting good biological waste management and good microbiological practices in health care facilities,  and participate in the development of Biosafety and Biosecurity policy and legislation.
