The International Federation of Biosafety Associations is pleased to welcome the Ecuadorian Association for Biosafety & Biosecurity (AECUBIOS) to its growing network of Member Biosafety Associations. AECUBIOS is a non-governmental, non-profit, and apolitical organization, officially established by Ministerial Agreement No. 00006-2025 on June 25, 2025, and registered under the Single Registration System with order number 2318, recognized by the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador.

AECUBIOS focuses on strengthening national capacities in biosafety, bioprotection, and biosecurity, while promoting awareness, continuous education, and the institutionalization of a biosafety culture across all sectors in the country. The association works to ensure compliance with national and international regulations, promote best laboratory practices, and foster collaboration among public institutions, private organizations, and international partners.

Its main objectives include the standardization of biosafety and biosecurity training programs, the implementation and mitigation of biological risk assessments, the promotion of applied research, and the enhancement of scientific and technical cooperation at both national and international levels.

AECUBIOS is composed of a multidisciplinary group of professionals, including experts in human, animal, plant, and environmental health, as well as engineers, architects, biotechnologists, and specialists from public, private, and autonomous sectors.
