The International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA) announces today a leadership change as Stephanie Norlock has been appointed Interim Acting Executive Director, effective immediately through December 31, 2026.  Stephanie holds IFBA Professional Certifications in both Biorisk Management and Biosecurity and will lead IFBA’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan “Connecting the World”, advancing its vision of a more connected, inclusive, and globally strengthened biosafety and biosecurity community.

Stephanie has been a longstanding and highly valued member of the IFBA team, bringing deep institutional knowledge, strong leadership, and a sustained commitment to advancing IFBA’s mission globally. Over the years, she has played a central role in the development and delivery of IFBA’s programs, working closely with partners and members across regions. She has been particularly instrumental in advancing IFBA’s initiatives that support the engagement and leadership of youth and women in biosafety and biosecurity.

Dr. Stefan Wagener has departed from his role as Executive Director and the Board wishes him well in his future endeavors.
