Professor Lela Bakanidze, Doctor of Sciences, has worked at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia as Biosafety, Threat Reduction and Especially Dangerous Infections. Later Lela moved to the Georgian Agrarian University. She is the former President of Georgian Biosafety Association, Chair of the IFBA Board of Directors, and currently serves as Vice-President of the Biosafety Association for Central Asia and Caucasus. From 2016-2024 Prof. Bakanidze also worked in Uzbekistan, providing technical expertise to the EU’s CBRN Centre of Excellence & Regional Secretariat for Central Asia. Lela Bakanidze is the author of two monographs and about 100 scientific papers.
