Prof. Zorgani obtained DipBact diploma and MSc degree from the department of pathological sciences at the University of Manchester. He received his PhD degree from the department of medical microbiology at the University of Edinburgh. He pursued his Academic career as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh.

Then he completed his postdoctoral research fellow at the institute of child health, University of Birmingham. He has extensive teaching experience at the department of medical microbiology and immunology, faculty of medicine at the University of Tripoli. Most of it focused on teaching medical microbiology and practicing clinical microbiology. During this post, he has published 66 scientific articles; the majority are related to antibiotic resistance and health care associated infection. He extended his collaborative projects with colleagues in Egypt, Tunisia and France. He was appointed as the head of bacteriology unit at the reference laboratory of National Centre for Diseases Control in Libya. Prof. Zorgani serves as reviewer for many journals and he is an assistant editor of Libyan Journal of Medical Science and other journals. His interests include: antibiotic resistance, healthcare associated infection and sterilization and disinfection, biorisk management. Recently he obtained the IFBA Professional Certification in Biorisk Management and introduced biorisk management to postgraduate students at faculty of medicine and faculty of pharmacy, University of Tripoli, and was appointed as temporary advisor to world health organization.
