Amadou KONE received his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Jean Monnet University of Saint Etienne (France) after being selected with distinction in his undergraduate schooling in Mali. While there, he taught and carried out research in cellular biology, molecular biology and HIV immunology.

In 2012, he joined the Center of d’Infectiologie Charles Mérieux (CICM) in Mali with responsibilities for the Biological and Applied Medical Sciences training program to build capacity among lab technicians in African Francophone countries. Amadou is a lecturer at University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako. He teaches molecular biology, cellular biology and immunology to students engaged to be biologists, microbiologists, biochemists, immunologists, future high school professors and researchers. He is also the Head of Molecular Biology and the focal point for biosafety and biosecurity at the Center of Research and Training on HIV and Tuberculosis (SEREFO). Amadou is an active member and Secretary of Communication and Foreign Affairs of the Malian Association of Biosafety and Biosecurity. He has participated in numerous biosafety and biosecurity training workshops both in Mali and Morocco in collaboration with the IFBA, AfBSA, BEP and SANDIA National Laboratories. In May of 2016, he earned his IFBA Professional Certification in Biorisk Management.
