Ni Ketut moved to the National Institute of Health Research and Development (NIHRD), Ministry of Health, in November of 2005. Previously she was at the Noemuti Primary Health Centre in Timor Tengah Utara, a small town at West Timor Island, where she worked in the virology laboratory with Influenza.

She was fortunate to pursue her Masters Degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno, which strengthened her passion for the laboratory field, even though her background was as a medical doctor. She works closely with NIHRD’s team for biorisk management team to enhance capacity and implementation of biorisk management in their institution. In addition to her research in virology, Ni Ketut coordinates the BSL3 laboratory and actively participates as a board member of Indonesian Biorisk Association (IBA). Her involvement in the IBA has given her the spirit, support and knowledge to implement biorisk management practices not only in her institute but throughout Indonesia.
