The International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA) is pleased to congratulate Geofrey Jagero on his appointment as an Adjunct Researcher at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Kenya, for a three-year term beginning September 2026. The appointment recognizes his extensive expertise and contributions to advancing biosafety and biosecurity education, research, and workforce development in Africa.

Geofrey currently serves as President of the Biorisk Management Association of Kenya and as IFBA’s MMUST Project Local Consultant, where he provides strategic guidance and support to the university’s pioneering BSc. in Biosafety & Biosecurity program. In this role, he works closely with MMUST leadership, faculty, students, and regional partners to strengthen program delivery, support student mentorship and co-op placements, and advance long-term sustainability efforts. As part of the degree program, Geofrey also serves as an expert guest co-lecturer, sharing his practical experience in biological risk management through courses on Biorisk Assessment & Management Principles and Applied Biorisk Assessment & Management.

Through his new appointment, Geofrey will contribute to research activities within MMUST’s Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, mentor emerging researchers, and support the university’s growing leadership role in biosafety and biosecurity education across Africa. IFBA looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Geofrey and MMUST as together we strengthen the next generation of biosafety and biosecurity professionals.
