Neil has been involved in health and science contamination control engineering for 30+ years. He has worked specifically for the last 12 years in the field of Bio-containment engineering of high microbiological facilities, predominantly working with Public Health England (PHE) and its predecessors at Porton Down.

Neil also provides client side Biocontainment Engineering consultancy services to the high microbiological containment industry on both a formal and informal basis working with individuals, private, public, national and international organisations. Neil actively supports Low Resource Biosafety and is presently involved in a global project to provide sustainable, low cost, infectious disease diagnostic and treatment facilities. Neil is a member of the European Biosafety Association (EBSA), and actively promotes Biocontainment engineering as a fundamental but often overlooked pillar of Biosafety and Biosecurity. When not working Neil enjoys exploring the UK inland waterways on his narrowboat.
